Introduction

Tokencal ("we," "our," or "us") operates tokencal.com, a set of free cryptocurrency calculators. This Privacy Policy describes what information is handled when you use the site and which third-party services are involved. The site has no user accounts.

Calculator Inputs

Calculations are performed in your browser. The values you enter into the calculators are not submitted to us through any form or API on this site. Some calculators send a coin name or ID to CoinGecko to look up prices, and the Profit/Loss calculator also keeps its inputs in your browser storage and in the page address. Both are described below.

Information We Collect

  • Contact form: the name, email address, subject, and message you enter. This is sent by email through Resend to the site owner.
  • Newsletter: the email address you enter in the newsletter signup form. It is sent to Resend, which adds it to our mailing list and sends a welcome email to that address. The welcome email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can also use our unsubscribe page to remove your address from the list.
  • Analytics data: information about your visit that Google Analytics collects, described below.
  • Advertising data: information the ad provider collects when it serves ads on the site, described below.
  • Standard request data: like any website, our hosting provider (Cloudflare Pages) receives your IP address and browser details when your browser requests a page.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information above to:

  • Respond to your contact form messages
  • Send the welcome email and any newsletter you subscribed to
  • Understand how the site is used through analytics
  • Display advertising, which supports the site

Third-Party Services

The following third parties receive information from your browser or from our forms. Their handling of that information is governed by their own privacy policies.

  • Google Analytics: the site loads Google Analytics, which uses cookies or similar identifiers and receives information about your visit, such as the pages you view and your browser and device. We also send it events for completing a Profit/Loss calculation (including the resulting profit or loss amount), sharing a result, subscribing to the newsletter, and arriving through a referral link (including the referral identifier). Because Google Analytics records the address of each page you view, the Profit/Loss inputs that appear in the page address (see Browser Storage) can be included as well.
  • Google AdSense: the site loads Google AdSense to show advertisements. Google can receive your IP address and browser information and may set cookies or use other identifiers to serve and measure ads. See Google's Privacy Policy.
  • Adsterra: advertisements on the site are also loaded from the ad network Adsterra. The ad provider can receive your IP address and browser information and may set cookies or use other identifiers to serve and measure ads. We do not control what the ad provider collects.
  • CoinGecko: price lookups (for example when you enter a coin name or use a Fetch button) are requests sent from your browser directly to CoinGecko's public API. CoinGecko therefore receives your IP address along with the coin, currency, and date being requested.
  • Resend: the contact form and newsletter use Resend to send email and, for the newsletter, to store the mailing list. Resend receives the email addresses and message content described above.
  • Cloudflare: the site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages, and form submissions pass through a Cloudflare Worker before being sent to Resend.

Browser Storage

The site stores the following items in your browser's localStorage. They stay on your device and can be cleared through your browser settings.

  • theme: your light or dark mode preference
  • calculation_count: how many Profit/Loss calculations you have run, used to decide when to show the newsletter prompt
  • email_capture_dismissed and email_captured: whether the newsletter prompt was dismissed or completed; email_captured holds the email address you entered
  • referral_id and referrals: a randomly generated identifier for your browser and any referral identifiers from links you opened
  • calculator_profit-loss: the last inputs entered in the Profit/Loss calculator. The same inputs are placed in the page address (URL) so the calculation can be shared, which means they appear in your browser history and in any link you copy.

Cookies

The site's own code uses localStorage rather than cookies. Google Analytics and the ad provider may set cookies in your browser. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the calculators do not depend on them.

No User Accounts

The site does not have user accounts, logins, or saved profiles. The only information we receive directly from you is what you choose to submit through the contact form or the newsletter signup.
